We're workin' on 4 weeks now. I'm still waiting for my security clearance to go through so I can begin the job at SSA. You need to realize I started this process last September. Really, that's when I contacted them and the application process began. It's nearly 8 months. Does the rest of the government work like this?

Why I'm here
Actually, I am Shy and Retiring despite my brief stint as a choruster in The Pirates of Penzance (see above pic), but not afraid to let others know what I'm thinking or feeling-within reason, of course. This blog will record my odyssey from "working- stiff" to retirement and inevitable curmudgeon hood. I hope to describe some of the the twists, turns, and gyrations that I anticipate I will need to go through to allow me to feel that I have remained a productive human being. I also reserve the right to make sardonic comment on the ironies and visiccitudes of life as I experience them.
